1989 PhD thesis at the Institute of Soil Mechanics and Rock Mechanics, University of Karlsruhe (Germany) under the supervision of Prof. G. Gudehus and Prof. D. Kolymbas

1992  Dr. techn. (Doctor of Sciences with honours), Graz University of Technology

2002  Habilitation thesis in Mechanics, Graz University of Technology
